DVD "Techniques of Ukiyo-e"

Woodblock printing techniques that originated in the Edo Period are now available in English on DVD. Aiming to pass down the traditional techniques, the Adachi Institute of Woodcut Prints has made a DVD version of "Techniques of Ukiyo-e." The original movie was made in 1997 and was only available in video format in Japanese. Responding to requests from overseas, English captions have been included this time. We prepare both video version “NTSC” and “PAL”. The 28-minute movie shows artisan working on wood carving and making color gradation with special prints and features the "Girl Blowing a Glass Toy" masterpiece of Utamaro Kitagawa (1753-1806), and other works.
