Adachi Foundation for the Preservation of Woodcut Printing 30th Anniversary Exhibition "Understanding the Global Recognition and Appeal of Hokusai's 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' through Numbers"

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Adachi Foundation, we will be holding a special exhibition focusing on Katsushika Hokusai's masterpiece "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," which is also featured on the new 1,000 yen bill to be issued on July 3, 2024.

In this exhibition, we will spotlight various "numbers" related to "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," such as the number of pieces held by museums domestically and internationally, and auction prices. This will help us delve into the global recognition of this work and its background. Additionally, from the perspective of the Japanese traditional woodcut printmaker, we will highlight the exceptional points of "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and the charm of ukiyo-e.

Furthermore, to ensure that this exhibition can be enjoyed by both adults and children, we have planned a variety of events. We sincerely look forward to your visit.
