Autumn Moon of the Mirror -Eight Indoor Views-
Harunobu is a pioneer of multi-colored woodcut printing and introduced ukiyo-e in full colors to Edo people. This work is one of 8 print series, “Eight Indoor Views” and each design has a indoor item represent a theme of Chinese “Eight Views of XiaoXiang”. In this print, the mirror in front of the young girl having a hairdressing represents the autumn moon. Japanese pampas grass seen outside of the window adds to the autumn atmosphere.
