The zodiac sign for 2025, the "Snake," is depicted wearing a kimono and sitting like a human. Based on its attire, the snake appears to be portrayed as a woman.
This piece is inspired by the Muromachi-period otogizōshi (illustrated tale) "Scroll of the Twelve Animals" (Jūnirui Emaki)." The story depicts a commotion caused by a raccoon dog lamenting its exclusion from a poetry gathering hosted by the twelve zodiac animals, with a deer serving as the judge.
