The Actor Nakamura Nakazo II as Matsuo-maru

This print portrays the Kabuki actor Nakamura Nakazo the Second playing the part of Mastuomaru in the play "Sugawara Denju Tsnarai Kagami". The artist is known for his stylistic perfection in the portrayal of actors. The large nose and tightly closed mouth with its ends pulled down give a remarkably vivid depiction of the actor on stage.
