石川豊信「桜に短冊を結ぶ娘」アダチ版復刻浮世絵

A Girl Fastening a Poem Slip to a Cherry Branch

This impressive work is an early ukiyo-e by Ishikawa Toyonobu. It was produced before the multicolor printing method was established, so only black outlines are printed with the woodblock. All other colors are hand painted. The girl is hanging a strip of paper with her poem from the branch of the cherry tree. Toyonobu captured a beautiful moment of a young girl’s delicate gesture and expressed a shiny moment of her youth.

An Ukiyo-e artist in Edo period.
