Linda Herritt's work explores the intersection of abstract visual elements and text, using their interactions to create a cadence, working together or at cross purposes in a particular piece. Beginning with a fragment of a narrative, she then further breaks apart text by interrupting it visually, creating tension between the acts of seeing and reading. At times the text dominates, and at other times the letters are camouflaged or fragmented by the shapes or colors in the background.
